Join our fight......
Dear Friends & Family ~
In less than a month, The Hackett Clan will once again take to the streets for the Johns Hopkins Packard Center Fiesta 5K to raise funds for ALS research. The Hackett Clan is planning again to be a part of that event and we are asking you to join us in the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). This will be our 6th year participating in The Fiesta 5K and as many of you know, things sure have changed since we first began this fight against ALS in 2004 in memory of Mike's mom, Diane Hackett. The fight has become even more personal in that Mike succumbed to this horrid disease on Feb. 3rd, 2012. His passing was just one year and one day from his diagnosis. Mike remained as strong as ever in spirit, even if his love for food, words, and hugs become an everyday challenge. He no doubt managed to have a better outlook on life than many of us will ever have, stating that he “was fine” to the very end. He completed his three research trials in his life and even in death donated his body for research to help find a cure. With all the poking, prodding Mike has endured, we are now asking for the support once again from our family and friends. We realize the economic times can be challenging, so if you cannot contribute financially, we would love to have you show your support by joining our Hackett Clan Team in running (or walking!) with us in Baltimore on May 7th. Throw on your green tee and join the fight!
Diane Hackett, Mike's mother and grandmother to Colin and Mackenzie, lost her courageous battle with this horrid disease in November of 2004. During her one-year struggle with the debilitating effects of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Diane inspired us with her bravery and determination. It is this inspiration, as well as Mike's incredible and amazing courage and strength that lead us to continue the fight against ALS, knowing that we have the ability to help others with ALS and also find a cure in the very near future.
Friends and family of The Hackett Clan have raised more than $300,000 for ALS research since Mike's diagnosis and the support has been overwhelming, not only financially, but in love, prayers and kind words. For that we feel blessed each and every day and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We also brought home trophies for the “most participants” (200+) many, many years! Simply AMAZING! Let's do it AGAIN!
Many thanks to those that have already signed up and/ or donated!
With all our love~
The Hackett Clan
